flywheel question

I am putting a O.S. 12TR engine in my new GSX. I put on the collet, flywheel, then the nut, but the nut will not tighten it all up. There is a 1/16th gap with the nut bottomed out. Am I supposed to use a shim here? Any suggesttions on a number if so? This is with the flywheel that came with the GSX.

Put a shim or 2 behind the collet. I had the same trouble.

I prefer to shim behind the flywheel, but shimming behind the collet will work also.
