I was just curious how many people are buying them to try to get this class going down at Maryville, and this area next year? I have my new Rocket latemodel from custom works, and I have heard of a few other people getting them. Im hoping we get a good number of guys buying them and getting them ready for next spring. This is an awesome class, and hope it picks up down here. If your getting one post here so people can see that we are going to have a good class of them next year:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Here is a pic of mine, once I get the body wrapped ill post more pics

I plan on getting one , as long as they stick to dodc rules it should be a fun class to race in and I look forward to racing sprint and 13.5 latemodels next year. It ha been a fun year and I have learned a lot. Thanks to Matt and Jim for all the help on the sprint car as well as all the other people who have helped me.

I know you guys are going to get the spec 13.5 class for next year, but do you think there will be any intrested people for an open late model class also? I am looking forward to either one or even both.

My suggestion would be not to use DODC rules, most people already have novak 13.5 and an smc 3200 battery, don't make it complicated by requiring a sticker. I think that you might have more people interested.
Which would also make it the same as the Western Illinois Dirt Series, including tires.

We,(the track promoters & regular weekly racers) usually have a couple of meetings prior to the season opening to hash out classes & rules packages. I would tend to agree with your idea, but careful consideration WILL be paid to what the best rules package would be for that class. I know of at least 5 cars,(latemodels) that are going to paticipate on a regular basis. So, between what our locals want, what the promoters are willing to do to police the class, & what our neighboring tracks want to do, the rules package should end up being a fair comprimise for everyone involved. There is always a select few that are interested in "open" class racing, but for the most part, those racer's have their hands full with their sprintcars already, but time will tell!

I think that the track owners need to go ny DODC to make it simple for people interested in racing from out of our area and not have the issue like at Big Bill's standard rules make the most sense. It was a issue of having 2 classes and I belive that with hurt the car count if it happens again just my 2 cents worth.

My .02 cents says to keep the rules that we have run in the WCIL for the past season in 13.5 LM they worked pretty well

Ditto,, And have a 13.5 sprint class, just use 13.5motor/3200batt. So when there isnt enough people to race 13.5, you can run mod as usual. No 6x6 wing or street tracks.

I think that the rules for 13.5 lm should be DODC rules. That way if someone is from out of town, they can race with out changing their cars, batteries, and motors. Plus if someone is trying to practice up for a big race, they will somewhat be in the ball park for gearing, motor performance and battery life. If the local tracks run their own special rules, it makes it a hassle for someone new to be competitive. The whole idea behind dodc rules is to make it easy for people to race. Tires should be up to the local track, and or race director. Thats stated in the dodc rules. The 13.5 is a good class that seems to be growing. The rules being nation wide, spelled out in black and white, should grow the class.

I can guarantee that we will run the points series rules. Which is the same as the dodc rules with the addition of you have to run the custom works rubber tires. Last year we allowed the non dodc motor and batteries to be used but it had to be the 3200 28c smc pack (same as the dodc pack) and the novak 13.5 motor (same as the dodc motor).

I agree with Matt, this is the rules we all wanted to run, and thats why we are all buying these cars, so the DODC rules will be what we go by im sure:thumbsup:

Well Matt these should still be the rules for next year unless something happens like a manufacture discontinues something like the batteries we use or something like that . I felt like the cars handled good with the rules that were in place and they made the racing really close . I had a blast in this class and it is growing at my track and I hear at the others as well glad our friends down south liked what they seen this year and are willing to try it .So if your pondering the idea of taking this class up I don't think you will be sorry close racing , good bunch of guys , and tire in side the body life is good . Just remember set up is everything and the great bunch of guys I was talking about will always give you hand as they do in every class .:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I will be back in this class as long as the rules are the close to what we had last year. 13.5 and smc 3200 28c, If your buying new get the DO stickers, If you have or can get it for less go for it it was legal here in the Mid West. I am into saving money when I can. These cars are fun as we ran last year. I just want to run a 6" spoiler LOL :blackflag::blackflag:

I think we need a open 3200 battery rule. I just saw a 3200 7.4 venom battery on Tower for 34 dollars. I think it would be a good deal for people just wanting to run a second class. Just my opinion.

The problem with that is... will that battery hang with the others? Or vise versa... will the others hang with that one? Thats whats nice about having 1 battery being used. You get 1 choice for battery and 1 choice for motor. Driver/Setup wins the race. :D

As for batteries, I do recall one of the WCIL Point Series rule makers stating the SMC 3200 28c will be used for two years in the 13.5 LM class during the rules discussions last spring.
Following the WCIL point series rules is good idea since most of the local IL tracks run them or something similar already.

Wolfman AKA Rob had two on here for 75 bucks. Cant go wrong there I dont think. The 13.5 and 3200 batt doesnt put much strain in the ESC. I ran mine last year without a fan. It is a fun class and if rules are the same at the tracks withing a 50 mile range. I am thinking we should have more at the weekly races. Rules are set now it is time to get ready for raceday.

78t spur seems a little more likely for the 13.5 from what i've run in the past, but i haven't run at Maryville either, just Bill's. Robinson makes some bigger pinions too, i believe from 37-47 for the odd teeth as another option. As for a rear spoiler, go to www.ottsspeedshop.com (http://www.ottsspeedshop.com) and he sells DODC spoiler kits. Just make sure you get the one for your body. I think he offers a 10" and 9" kit. Hope that helps ya out.

Hey Doug, Saturday night I was geared at axle, not including tire size at 4.23 with a 2.4 gearbox.
90/51x2.40=4.23. I think Jeremy was geared lower than that and I think I will down a couple more teeth on the pinion. I'm using 64 pitch gears right now because I haven't bought any 48 pitch stuff yet.
