Hey guys I used to race dirt oval years ago in newville, pa. I'm looking to get back into things and just curious what the nitro guys have been running and if my chassis will just be worthless to try and compete, my Sprint was already old style the time as it was the first model of the TS chassis they made and my modified is a CRD belt drive. Just curious what people have been running and what to expect coming back to it. Thanks for any replies!

Unfortunately, nitro is just about dead. At Bumps and Jumps this winter the biggest sprint car class was 10.5T limit.

We still run Nitro Sprints out here in CA, but I'm told we are like the last track left in the country doing so. Boy your cars are old! With the modern motors we have today which have way too much horsepower, your CRD car wouldn't make it 10 laps without killing the belt and or diff. I think we would have died out eventually anyway, but the Lipo/brushless revolution expedited nitro's death. Check out your local tracks and see what mod electric classes they're running, very fast and very affordable compared to years ago.

Well thanks for your honesty guys 😂😂 there's tracks over here that still run the nitro stuff. But I guess I'll be getting into electric before I know it 🤷‍♂️

Nitro is definitely going out of style but electric and nitro kind of flip flop in popularity and mainstream every few years. I know many people who. Have gone from nitro to electric but when we get to race the nitro limited late model, we bust those out too. But if you using a belt drive car you would probably want to look for a loose dirt track as belt cars work better on loose dirt than high bite. Hope this helps.
